Northstar Neuroscience Inc., a medical device company that develops therapies for the treatment of neurological diseases and disorders, are planning to cut jobs as part of a strategic plan to cut costs. The Seattle based company did not announce how many jobs they plan on eliminating, but mentions that it will scale down its clinical and development activities and focus more on the advancement of their research in cortical stimulation therapy for depression. In addition… Northstar plans to sublease 40% of its facilities. Even considering the sale of the company, a partnership, or a licensing transaction. Northstar’s quarter earnings in at the end of June revealed a net loss of $4.1 million dollars. With the new strategic cost cutting initiative implemented by the company… they are hoping to acquire a savings of more than $1.1 million dollars associated with job cutbacks.
