A Program Manager (PM) position is available at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine (WCP), **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. The WCP is the world's largest academic research facility dedicated to investigating the effects of light on human biology and to the development of
light-mediated, minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. A pioneer in light-based biomedical research, the Center has about 250 researchers on an average and been the source of many of the most successful transfers of this research to clinical applications. The PM will be the point person for communication for approximately 25 scientists. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects, successfully supporting, promoting and creating potential and active research studies including clinical trials. A significant comfort level with computers, programming language, and other technical aspects of IT is required. The Program Manager will effectively manage staff members and facilitate appropriate and timely information and data exchange within the team and with collaborators. Develop reports and grants, identify and resolve project, safety, and regulatory related issues, oversee and manage timelines and communicate progress/issues arising on projects with appropriate stakeholders.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning, managing, and training for smooth execution of research operations. This includes managing interactions with multiple industrial/academic collaborations and with scientists, venture capitalist s , and industrial executives on research ventures. It also includes training of personnel for such interactions.
Establishes, implements, and manages research projects including the following activities: project planning and research study design development; collaborating with cross functional groups with varied functional expertise; establishing and monitoring projects timelines and budgets, anticipating schedule impacts and adjusting project team activities as required.
Develop, oversee, and manage core research documents, including animal study protocol, Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), SOW, SOI, safety compliance and other institutional/agency compliance documents.
Ensures studies are conducted in compliance with the respective investigational plan and all applicable regulations, IRB requirements, and Company policies and procedures
Actively participate in the planning and supporting of relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), speakers, and company executives. Develop and execute consulting agreements with industrial collaborators.
Evaluate novel applications and outcomes of research focused on drug delivery, targeting strategies and photodynamic therapies for improved outcome in oncology and infectious diseases.
Prioritize conflicting needs, handle issues expeditiously, proactively, and follows through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures
Effectively communicate with collaborators and Partners Innovation office for processing of confidentiality agreements, intellectual property disclosures and patent applications.
Develop grant applications, progress reports, and scientific protocols for federal institutions such as National Institute of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Department of Defense (DoD), etc.
Obtain and maintain clinical and pre-clinical database management including packaging/preparing data for analysis (e.g. RPDR).
Develop and adhere to a standardized data management policy including archiving, backup, and status reporting; data types include research data, clinical trial data, ultrasound, imaging, MRI, PET, behavioral tasks, neuropsychological and psychophysiological recordings
Manage employees and ensure competencies as well as provide guidance
Helps members of the network leadership team determine data needs and assists in designing and refining study tools, improvement measures and reports as necessary
Develop/supervise development of regular ad hoc reports to present to network leadership team.
Conduct or coordinate special analytic projects as assigned
Oversee and provide guidance to scientists within group to include: postdoctoral fellows, technical staff and graduate students.
Hire, supervise and evaluate postdocs, visiting scientist, technicians, and graduate students. Approve visa certifications for new hires. Responsible, for corrective action, performance evaluations, etc.
Provide and supervise training for all incoming and existing investigators regarding protocol requirements, data collection & organization, and reporting requirements as necessary.
Develop budget expenditures ranging from $1.25M - $10M or above.
Approve purchases for the group costing more than $1000.
Oversee financial reports and manage budgets, consistent with the scientific needs, agencies, and constitutional policies. Decide on budget distribution, resource allocation, and prepare budgetary forecast on quarterly basis
Ability to effectively project manage

Thorough knowledge of databases and computer software, including Excel, Access for database functions.
Effective interpersonal, communication, organizational, problem-solving skills
Ability to assess all assigned work and mange time appropriately to meet deadlines, must be highly organized and be able to juggle multiple priorities effectively

Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree preferred
