VCU Health Systems ORTHO ? Stony Point is seeking a full time Orthopedic Technician whom under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, applies casts, splints and other DME to the orthopedic patient population in an outpatient setting. Provides patient/family teaching to a wide variety of patients with varying educational levels. Orders and maintains supplies in the cast room.

Responsibilities

Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner in providing patient care related to casts, splints and wound care all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.

Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor regarding time/schedule changes, legal issues, direct care which deviates from standard and identifying educational resources to meet developmental needs.

Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed.

Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or GED required

BLS Certification

Preferred

Current/active OTC certification

Previous experience in the outpatient clinical setting
